Terms of Service

Effective date: March 15, 2026

Last reviewed: March 15, 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using FraudLayer (the "Service"), including creating an account, using our REST API, or installing any of our integrations, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you are using the Service on behalf of a business, you represent that you have the authority to bind that business to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.

2. About FraudLayer

FraudLayer is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) fraud prevention platform provided by KONNECTE LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (registered office: 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom).

The Service provides real-time order fraud risk scoring, chargeback prevention tools, cross-merchant network intelligence, and integrations with e-commerce platforms including Shopify and WooCommerce. Access is provided via a web dashboard and a REST API.

3. Eligibility

To use FraudLayer, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be operating a legitimate business or acting on behalf of one
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Not be prohibited from using the Service under applicable law

4. Account Registration

You must register for an account to use most features of the Service. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
  • Maintain and update your account information to keep it accurate
  • Keep your password and API keys confidential and secure
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account at info@fraudlayer.net
  • Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain inaccurate information or violate these Terms.

5. Subscription Plans & Billing

FraudLayer offers several subscription tiers: Free, Starter, Pro, and Enterprise. Each plan includes specific order assessment limits, feature access, and API rate limits as described on our pricing page.

Billing

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually in advance via Stripe. All prices are in USD unless otherwise stated. Applicable taxes may be added at checkout.

Auto-renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You may cancel at any time through your dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Refunds

We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel mid-period, you retain access until the period ends. Exceptions may be made at our sole discretion for billing errors.

Plan changes

Upgrading to a higher plan takes effect immediately, with a prorated charge for the remainder of the billing period. Downgrades take effect at the next renewal.

Free plan

The Free plan is subject to usage limits and may be modified or discontinued with 30 days' notice. We reserve the right to require a paid plan for continued access above free-tier limits.

6. API Usage

Access to the FraudLayer API is provided via API keys tied to your account. You agree to:

  • Keep API keys secret and never expose them in client-side code or public repositories
  • Comply with the rate limits and order assessment quotas associated with your subscription plan
  • Not resell, sublicense, or provide API access to third parties without our express written consent
  • Not use the API for any purpose other than fraud prevention and risk assessment as described in these Terms

We reserve the right to throttle or suspend API access if your usage pattern poses a risk to service stability for other users.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful fraud prevention purposes. You must not:

  • Use the Service to discriminate against individuals on the basis of protected characteristics (race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, etc.)
  • Submit data for any purpose other than assessing the fraud risk of genuine commercial transactions
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our fraud detection models or algorithms
  • Use automated scripts to scrape, crawl, or excessively query the dashboard or API beyond normal operational use
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
  • Circumvent any access restrictions, rate limits, or security measures
  • Use the Service in violation of any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights

Violation of this section may result in immediate account suspension without refund.

8. Data & Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. You are responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights, consents, and legal basis to submit your customers' order data to the Service, as required by applicable data protection law (including UK GDPR and EU GDPR).

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, algorithms, documentation, and brand, is the exclusive intellectual property of KONNECTE LTD and is protected by copyright, trade secret, and other applicable laws.

We claim no ownership over the order data, customer data, or business data you submit to the Service. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process that data solely for the purpose of providing the fraud detection Service to you.

10. Network Confidentiality

The cross-merchant fraud intelligence network that powers FraudLayer is built on anonymised, hashed signals. No merchant's raw customer data, order details, or business intelligence is disclosed to other merchants. All contributions to the shared network are irreversibly anonymised before aggregation.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Guarantees of 100% fraud detection accuracy — fraud risk scores are probabilistic assessments, not definitive determinations
  • Uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation at all times

Risk scores provided by FraudLayer are tools to assist your decision-making, not instructions to cancel, block, or refund any specific order. Final decisions regarding orders remain your sole responsibility.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, KONNECTE LTD shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, revenue, data, or business goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising under or in connection with these Terms shall not exceed the total fees paid by you to us in the three (3) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless KONNECTE LTD and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights.

14. Termination

Either party may terminate these Terms by providing 30 days' written notice. We may terminate or suspend your access immediately, without notice, if:

  • You materially breach these Terms
  • You use the Service for illegal or fraudulent purposes
  • Your account poses a risk to the security or integrity of the Service
  • Required by applicable law or regulatory authority

Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases. We will retain your data for the period specified in our Privacy Policy before deletion.

15. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless prohibited by mandatory applicable law in your jurisdiction.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service before they take effect.
